For planned artificial insemination, cryopreservation (storing sperm frozen in liquid nitrogen for later use), or just to gauge the quantity and quality of sperm being generated, sperm may be harvested.
Semen Collection & Computerized Semen Analysis
At Sondel Family Veterinary Clinic, we assist collect semen from the stud dog to analyze for sperm count and motility. To assist in stimulating the male during this process, we may use pheromones from a bitch in heat or, if accessible, allow the male to engage with a bitch in heat. However, this is not required.
Using our SpermVision software, Sondel Family Veterinary Clinic will provide the stud owner with a printed semen analysis report showing the motility and viability of the sample provided.
